Insight 101: Finding Your Way Around

Insight is an online tracking system, so if you're comfortable with the basics of using the web, navigating around should feel familiar.
You can use the menu at the top of the screen to access everything you need:
Menu Link | Description |
Home | This is where you land when you log in. Here you'll find news and information about recent updates; recent notifications from other staff; and a reminder of how to get help. |
Reports | The Reports menu lets you access all of Insight's cohort-level reports. This is where you'll go when you want to do high-level analysis or look at tables of data. |
Pupils | The Pupils page is where you'll find individual pupil reports, useful for when you want to look in detail at a pupil's assessments, contextual information, interventions, notes and history. |
Objectives | The Objectives page is where you can manage your formative assessment. Class teachers will probably spend a lot of time here, and school leaders may visit when digging down from higher-level reports, during pupil progress meetings or to look at gaps in learning. Enter Data | The Enter Data menu is primarily used to enter summative assessment data (teacher assessments, targets and tests). You can enter Assessment Data From Excel. You can also access the Interventions and Groups management page here. (You'll read more about summative data in Insight in Insight 101: Summative Assessment.) |
Search Bar | You can use the search bar to quickly access any pupil's individual report page. Search for pupils currently on roll as well as archived pupils, either by name or UPN. |
Help | Click the Help menu for details on how to contact us, or to find the discussion forum and these Help Guides. |
Account | Under the Account menu you can change your password; switch schools if you have access to multiple accounts; see your notifications from other staff; enter Private Mode to view Insight anonymously; or log out. |
Admin (in Account menu) | (Admin users only) The Admin area of Insight is where school administrators can manage the school's pupil roll, staff list, objective statements and school settings where you can edit your list of subjects and assessment types. |
