Mark Schemes: Decimal
A Decimal mark scheme is a highly flexible mark scheme option. It accepts either integers or decimals, including negative values, and allows multiple custom thresholds in cases where evaluation of assessment data differs, for example, each term. Because of its versatility, it is often used in preference to the raw scores and percentages mark schemes and may be used in place of standardised score mark schemes in some scenarios.
The mark scheme also supports assessments where lower numbers represent higher attainment.
Contact Insight support if you want this to be set up for your school or Trust. The following describes some of the options.
The format of entered assessments may be defined.
Number is the default setting for a decimal mark scheme and is the most flexible option. The other option - Percentage - will ensure that any value is a number between 0 and 100, and adds a percentage symbol to the end. Attempts to put in values such as 110, will be highlighted as invalid mark text in red, and will not be saved by Insight.
Decimal Places defines the number of decimal places that a mark value on this scheme can have.
Average Decimal Places shows how many decimal places are used for averages and offers flexibility to those schools that require finer data. If this box is left blank, then the Decimal Places value will be used.
Minimum Value and Maximum Value set the lowest and highest values the mark scheme can accept.
